Samsung GX20 unveiled
Today two Norvegian websites (Akam.no and Aronsen.no) have reported the announcement of the all new Samsung GX20 DSLR. However, still no official press-release on the Samsung Techwin website.
So what and when we should to expect?
- Brand new 14.6 megapixel CMOS sensor with LiveView feature. The rumors says that this sensor is designed by Pentax, but manufacturer is unknown yet.
- Good old Shake Reduction and all-weather sealing in the practically the same body - just a little bit larger 2.7″ LCD.
- ISO3200 and dedicated RAW button (they’ve heard us!).
- Shipment in the end of Q1 2008 for around US$1800 in Norway, so it should be around $1200 in the United States.
Taking up on port folio photography is really a piece of cake. You will need a good nikon camera, some nice colorful easels, and of course the spotlight. Port folios also require the use of camera filters sometimes.

I have some info myself - I finally bought a K10D with 50mm and 18-250mm lenses so I’m in the Pentax fold for real now and not on the outside looking in!

Finally a welcome new news. Hope Pentax has something similar or better to Samsung’s Samsung GX20, say calling it a Pentax K20D. I can’t wait for the specs. With a new Pentax dslr, at least my Pentax K10D will not be the last great Pentax digital SLR in the history of photography.

I only use Pentalife for Pentax news and rumors but with this new Samsung rumor, can’t help surping the web this morning for more and found a lot of rumors about it. The most interesting one is ….”Pentax has registered the domain names K20D and K200D so those names are pretty certain. ” from a web site called Pink Pentax. It also mentioned that the new Pentax designed 14.6 megapixel CMOS is manufactured by Samsung. That could be the ultimate rationale for their “unholy” alliance, he he: You manufacture our CMOS designs and we will put your name on our dslr. Fair enough, everybody is happy.

I heard the sensor is designed by Pentax, and made by Samsung.

Please check the website below. It is written in Korean but you certainly can see the noise test of Samsung GX-20. Almost no noise at ISO 1600.

i love the buttons/orientation/setup of the gx20’s menu, more so than the k20d!
