As an owner of Pentax film cameras, *istD and K10D I am nervous about the rate of technology change/update from Pentax. The new DA* lens complement the K10D (and won’t go astray on the *istD) but are expensive and severely limited for use on 1.1 or full frame sensors. I shudder to think what equivalent * lens would cost for full frame DSLRs. Or is it back to the future and use the older manual and A lens??

The replacement for the K10D has been in discussions since before the camera was released.. Of course the new camera is in planing.

Frank — it’s still only a rumor that there will be a camera in a price/features bracket *above* the K10D.

More rumors:
1) The next Pentax camera will use a non-Sony sensor: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/everything-else/8549-pentax-lunch-scoop.html
2) New model announced June 28th? This one is very sketchy:

I want Pentax to shortly release DA17-70mm lens reasonable, planned on their development roadmap.
Expensive lenses like DA star are beyond my budget.

I’m afraid that DA 17-70mm will not hit the shelves before Spring 2008.
