Pentax K10D firmware 1.30
Firmware version 1.30 previously presented in the Pentax AP50 Anniversary camera now available for Pentax K10D. The only new feature is the support for new SDM (Supersonic Drive Motor) lenses. To install this update download archived file for Windows (self-extractor) or Mac (BinHex), unpack it and follow the instructions in the readme.txt file.
Thus all new Pentax digital SLRs are now fully compatible with SDM lenses, but these lenses themselves are still listed as available for preorder only with the shipment date in August 15, 2007.

How do you tell which version firmware is already on the camera?

Nick, turn on your K10D camera while holding down the MENU button.

Firmware update does not load when I turn on camera while holding MENU button. LCD screen only displays current version 1.00. I have already loaded the fwdc162.bin software on to the memory card (that was formatted first). Can this be overcome?

I should assume that the K10D will operate also the dynamic range enlargement after updating with 1.30. Please confirm and indicate how to access the feature.

No. There is no *significant* improvements in dynamic range with this update.

Nancy, try to use another SD card (better SD not SDHC). Format it in the camera.

Any solution on the problem experienced by Nancy and Dave? Using Sandisk UltaII SD card.
thanks

My camera won’t recognize two Sandisk Extreme cards I’ve
bought. It’s perfect with High Speed Toshiba and 133x Lexar’s.
I just use the Sandisks for Data transfer now.
With the camera switched off the light at the side of the
card slot should flash 2 times when you insert a card. If
it doesn’t the card isn’t recognized and won’t work.
If you have the software to create a SFV or MD5 file from
Fwdc162b.bin copy that over to the SD card as well. Run it
to check that the file on the SD card is OK. Delete the SFV
file. Wait a while before removing the card then put it into
your K10D. Press and hold the menu whilst switching on.
Then follow the instructions.

Thanks for the information, Sean. I’ll try to avoid Sandisk’s cards.
