Hoya Pentax merger canceled. Urano quits

According to Bloomberg, Pentax board of directors scrapped a planned merger with Hoya Corp. Fumio Urano quit as Pentax president today. Todays Pentax CEO Takashi Watanuki will become the new president. Both companies will continue talks to combine operations.

    I am a Pentaxian and I hope this will not be like Konica and Minolta :-(

    I hope this doesn’t slow the momentum Pentax has had for the past year or so. News like this can make potential buyers hesitate waver a bit.
