Four new Optio Point & Shoots

Pentax Optio A20. Image curtesy Pentax CorporationFour Point & Shoots at once were announced by Pentax before Photokina Trade Show. It is E20, M20, T20 and A20. E20 where E stands for entry-level is affordable 6 Megapixels 3X optical zoom with nothing to write home about functionality.

M20 (M for mobile) is 3x zoom with 7.0 effective megapixels. Pentax claims battery life up to 220 images with AA-size alkaline batteries, or approximately 700 images with AA-size lithium batteries. Also M20 offers Blur Reduction. I think it is something like software SR. When the conditions assumes long exposures BR boosts up ISO (maximum ISO sensitivity 1600!) and in-camera sharpening. The same strategy we have seen on several Fuji’s prosumers.

T is for touch-display. T20 hides 3x optical zoom and 7 Megapixels in the stylish body just 19.5 mm thin. But the main feature is huge 3.0 inch 230,000 pixels touch display. You can setup functions and list through the pictures with easy just touching the screen.

A20 is the most Advanced Pentax digicam today. It features 10 Megapixels, true Shake Reduction (as well as Blur Reduction described above) and auto-tracking AF which is continuously focuses on moving subjects. A20, T20 and M20 also includes the new Face Recognition AF & AE function. This function automatically detects the subject’s face anywhere in the photo frame and then adjusts the focus and selects proper exposure.
