I have been trying to use an external non-ttl flash with my recently aquired k110d slr. I am attaching the flash via a hotshoe adapter and pc cord in the manual mode, The flash does not fire at all. What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate any help at solving this problem. Thanks.

  2. May be your old flash have different contacts configuration...

Also, using old non-TTL flash with the digital camera could seriously damage the camera's circuits due to voltage differences. It's better to not use it on camera.

The hot shoe adapter has the standard single center contact as does the Pentax hot shoe. This flash has worked well with two other digital cameras in the auto mode as well as in manual mode. The trigger voltage has been checked at 6 volts but I have a safe-sync that I can use if needed. It appears the safe voltage with the Pentax k110 is 25v. I am assuming I have not got the correct settings to use an external flash. As I indicated I have been using this flash as well as 3 others on Canon and Olympus digital cameras for the last few years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just an update on my problem. I tried the flash directly in the hotshoe and it works! Seems the problem is with the hotshoe adapter not making proper contact. It works fine in all my other cameras. I will ckeck out to see what is causing the problem and report back. bye for now.
