Found it on eBay. It took a while. It would work for concerts fine. I'm looking forward to the new Pentas lens for portraits for sure.

Hey netimages,

how much did that 75-200 cost you, and where did you get it from?
I'm looking to get a very decent lens for concert photography, and the announced Pentax doesn't even go to 200.

EX series Sigmas are pretty good for the price usually. But Sigma's ultrazooms are not EX, just DC. In any case, all ultrazooms are the matter of compromises between convenience and image quality.

I picked up a manual focus 75-200mm sigma f2.8 to hole me over till the new lenses are out. It's heavier than the new Pentax lenses, but lighter than my Tamron 28-75 2.8 autofocus.

I'm really glad I bought it. It's has expanded my lowlight photography for sure, and I'm been happy with its sharpness. Not as good as my Pentax prime lenses, but better than my Pentax FA J 75mm-200mm f4.5 for sure!

Who has been using a 2.8 up to 200 zoom with the K10D (either Tamron or Sigma) and what are your impressions?

I think I'll go with the Tamron 18-200mm as my first lens when I finally get a K10D. With the release 18-250mm the 200 should be available at a good price.

Many Pentaxians (especially those who have migrated recently from ultrazoom p&s) think about of newest (and longest) Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 AF Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro ultrazoom lens.

It competes against other long-zoom designs, both in the form of the original Tamron 18-200mm, as well as the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 and the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 VR (vibration reduction) optic. While it's clear that a $500 ultra-zoom will never compete with higher-priced, lower-ratio zooms, let alone prime lenses, we were pleasantly surprised by how well the Tamron 18-250mm stacked up against the competition.
