Well, I held off a whole week after Aug. 15 before bagging on on Ebay. I've had it 5 days now and I don't see myself ever wanting to buy
another lens that isn't SDM.

There have been a few times over the years when Pentax has shifted directions that have got my attention and I think this is one of them.

My first Pentax was a Spotamatic, but when the K2 came out, I said hey this is materially better and the Spotamatic and all my screw mount stuff went down the road and I got a K2 which I kept
until it died. I replaced it with a used SuperProgram. Until then I hadn't thought too
much about the benefits of the "A" position
on the lenses, but after using the Super Program a bit, I rounded up every M series lens I had and sold them on Ebay and backfilled with A lenses.
At the time it didn't cost much to make the switch because the crippled K mount bodies weren't out yet. I didn't think much of any of the P for plastic looking pentaxes but bought
a Xz-5, and accumulated a variety of FA lenses for it (but can't bear to get rid of my superprogram because itis just too nifty---never mind that I don't use it. To be sure I got an istD not long after they came out (Ithink after about the first price cut), but it didn't inspire me to change the lens family. Indeed I haven't bought a lens for years, and in honor of the film cameras which I have but don't use had never considered buying a 'small format' lens until the SDM showed up. I've had the K10 around for a couple of months and have been sort of indifferent to using it over the istD, but now
with the first SDM, I'm really excited.
The xz-5, the istD, and every FA lens I have could go down the road if I could functionally replace them with SDM lenses, and further assuming I can figure out how to take a MACRO flash photo with the K10.

What if the current Pentax/Hoya petty cares will sideline new lenses? Will we see them?

I've been waiting for 16-50 to be in stock in May. And now it's August.I'm feeling a bit disappointed.

Last month Pentax have postponed release date for the new DA* 16-50mm F2.8 and DA* 50-135mm F2.8 high quality zooms. Amazon have updated their pages for both lenses (16-50mm and 50-135mm):

PopPhoto have tested Tokina 50-135mm F2.8 which is pretty similar to DA* 50-135mm F2.8

Also, you can find interesting review of the Tokina AT-X 535 PRO DX 50-135mm F2.8 which is fairly similar to upcoming Pentax (and Samsung) DA* 50-135mm F2.8. Most of the full size samples made with Nikon D200 so it is easy to imagine how DA* will perform on the K10D.

Impress Watch continue publishing articles on Pentax's latest and most successful digital camera.

First one from today is a short review by Fumio Nakamura. It contains visual size comparison of K10D with the Pentax *istD, Canon EOS 20D and film SLR Pentax Z-1P. Also some full resolution shots made with old Pentax lenses (15mm F3.5, 85mm F1.8, FA* 80-200mm F2.8 and mirror telephoto zoom 400-600mm F8-12) available.

The second one is a couple of beautiful Japanese models shot by Kazuhisa Nishikawa. K10D + good old lims - 31mm and 43mm. If you tired of recent K10D samples tsunami, just relax your eyes :)
