D-BG2 battery grip doesn’t fit Samsung GX-10
PentaxLife Forum user 1r2R1 shared photos of Pentax D-BG2 battery grip attached to Samsung GX-10 camera body by Michaël Matiwejko:

As you can see on the pictures above, Samsung’s grip is slightly larger than the Pentax’s one. Michaël had to cut some plastic off his D-BG2 to install it. Happily, the problem is mostly cosmetic and can be fixed at your convenience. All the buttons and dials are fully functional. A little surgery shouldn’t damage battery grip’s all-weather seals. But I’d recommend you to wait for Samsung genuine part.

Dear Pentax / Samsung
The advantages of a broad product range are lost if you’re going to make accessories incompatible for no good reason. What next - a Samsung specific version of the K-mount?

I’m surprised. In the recent review of the Samsung GX-10 in the Amateur Photography magazine (http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/) they reported that the Pentax grip fitted the GX-10 and worked fine! I will try and find a copy of the magazine and see if they had any pictures.

If I was the user, I would not cut the grip and should have left it as it was.
Cutting it don’t make the combo looks better, but worst!
Anyway, I agree that it is highly undesirable to see this happened, though.

When they writes it fits doesn’t necessarily mean that it is perfect! :-) Bottom line is: it does work! The cause of the problem is simple and trivial - Samsung has changed the dimensions of the body (the plastic mould) a little bit without thinking on the interfacing with the battery grip, which has caused the (minor) problem.

I am not as frustrated but I do agree with TJ. Although minor, it still is a problem but, hopefully, Samsung will come to the rescue and mend these broken hearts soon.

Michaël Matiwejko mentions that Samsung’s grip is slightly larger than the Pentax’s -what Samsung grip is he talking about? I can’t find an accessory battery grip for the GX10, anywhere. Anybody know what he’s talking about, and is there an actual Samsung battery grip specifically for the GX10? Thanks, Joe.

D-BG2 is not for GX-10. It’s only for K10D. Actually Samsung is developing their own version of the battery grip.
Following photos show a prototype version of Samsung Grip. Final version could be different. Korean Samsung users are known for this for a while.

[…] According to Korean forum SSdslr.com, battery grip for Samsung GX-10 digital SLR is ready and should be available by the end of April. Good news for GX-10 owners, present or future, since the Pentax D-BG2 battery grip for K10D doesn’t fit Samsung GX-10 due to slight dimensional differences. […]

Good hybride experience !
The Pentax grip D-BG2 was in december 2006 (in france) the only possibility to have quickly a grip on my Samsung GX10 (very difficult to find a Pentax K10D before Christmas, the Samsung GX10 was available in front me !)…No Samsung grip in the user’s manual end 2006, it was mentionned only the possibility to use Pentax accessories.
The Samsung is biggest in your hand that the Pentax. If you have a large hand, like me, it’s a plus. The menu is different too and the buttons around the digital sreen.
I’ve take few thousand of pics with this grip, the position of the small finger is really ergonomic !

Add for the Samsung choice :
I’ve reveived, as 1st winner of the Quiz Samsung 2002 (Fr), a SyncMaster241MP (24”, 1920×1200, TV, Remote, 2Speakers).
Since this time I have a small preference…

I’m still looking for the grip.
Has anybody seen one in the US?
